Dimple Roy is the Director of the Water Program at the International Institute for Sustainable Development. Ms. Roy provides research leadership, policy analyses, and management functions on water and water related issues in Canada and globally. She has been working on watershed management implementation and market and policy instruments in Canada, water-energy-food security assessments in the context of mining and agriculture and ecosystem management through policy guidance. Her work has focused in part on governance and policy analyses in the context of management of the Lake Winnipeg Basin in Canada including topics such as transboundary management, and ecosystem services delivery for multiple benefits. She works in partnership with provincial and federal governments, international agencies and others to develop programs and delivery mechanisms in water and agricultural management. She has been involved in water policy analyses in the context of irrigation subsidies in India, agricultural land investments in Asia and Africa, adaptive policies in India and Canada and other projects on water and watershed management. Globally, she has been part of initiatives in Canada, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
Before joining IISD, she has worked within government, and as an independent consultant on policy, legislation, education, urban design and other environmental management issues.
