Jean Gray

Jean Gray - Professor Emeritus - Medical Education, Medicine, and Pharmacology at Dalhousie University. 

Undergraduate education at the University of Alberta resulted in degrees in Chemistry (1963) and Medicine (1967). Postgraduate training took place at Stanford and Dalhousie Universities. She joined the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie and was founding Head of the Division of General Medicine, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education (1988-96) and Continuing Medical Education (1996-2002). Dr. Gray served as President of the Canadian Society of Clinical Pharmacology; the Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation; the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics; the Canadian Association for Medical Education; the Canadian Institute of Academic Medicine; and chaired the Boards of Cochrane Canada, the inaugural IAB of the Institute of Gender and Health at CIHR, the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation, the Journal Oversight Committee of the CMAJ, the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and spent 10 years on the Patented Medicines Prices Review Board.  She currently serves on the Health Canada/CIHR Drug Safety and Effectiveness Network Steering Committee, the Board of the Canadian Frailty Network, and chairs the Standing Committee on Assessments of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences as well as the Selection Committee of the Prix Galien.  She served as Editor-in-Chief of the first five editions of the textbook Therapeutic Choices.  Dr. Gray is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, a member of the Order of Canada, an honorary member of the Canadian Pharmacists Association, holds two honorary doctorates (Dalhousie and Alberta) and was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
